PMB 200/300 Polymer Modified Bitumen Specifications & Supply

The softest range we quote, sourced against your specification

PMB 200/300 is a polymer modified bitumen with a nominal penetration range of 200 to 300 (0.1 mm at 25°C). It is the softest of the nine ranges in our polymer modified bitumen range. It tends to be named in specific documents for specific work, often in smaller quantities than the mid-range binders.

Turkey Bitumen, operated by Tiger Bitumen and HY International Group, supplies this binder to contractors, asphalt producers and importers with Turkey-related requirements. It ships from Tiger Bitumen’s export facilities in Karachi Free Zone, Pakistan, and Ajman, UAE. Every quotation is prepared against the specification you send us.

Where PMB 200/300 Sits in the PMB Family

A penetration result between 200 and 300 means the standard needle sinks between 20.0 and 30.0 mm into the binder at 25°C. That puts this binder at the soft end of the family. The only neighbouring range, PMB 120/200 [LINK WHEN LIVE], meets it at the single value of 200, so there is effectively no overlap to work through.

At the end of the scale. We don’t quote PMB ranges softer than this one. If your documents name a softer binder and describe it as a PMB, send us the clause before you request a price. It may be a different product type or classification, and it’s better to settle that before quoting than after.

Complete Designation and Softening Point

Under EN 14023, 200/300 is the penetration part of a designation. The complete designation adds a softening-point requirement selected by the specifier from the classes the standard provides. The specification may also set requirements for elastic recovery, cold behaviour, storage stability and resistance to hardening.

The softening-point class for PMB 200/300 comes from your project specification, so we don’t publish a single figure for the range. The complete designation is confirmed at quotation stage, against your specification and the TDS supplied with our offer. Tiger Bitumen explains how EN 14023 designations are built if you need the background.

Properties to Confirm Before Ordering

Property Status for the 200/300 range Commonly referenced test
Penetration at 25°C Fixed; 200-300 (0.1 mm) EN 1426
Softening point (ring and ball) Per the class in your specification EN 1427
Elastic recovery Per your specification, if required EN 13398
Fraass breaking point Per your specification, if required EN 12593
Storage stability Per your specification, if required EN 13399
Resistance to hardening (ageing) Per your specification, if required EN 12607-1

Only the penetration range is fixed by the name. All other values depend on the complete designation and are given in the TDS for the offered product and on the batch COA.

Ordering a Specialized Range

The softest PMB ranges are usually ordered for defined pieces of work rather than as a project’s main paving binder. That changes how the enquiry is best put together:

  • Be specific about quantity. Quantity affects how a specialized range can be supplied, so give the figure you actually need, along with any call-off or phasing.
  • Combine your enquiry. If the same project also needs other binders, such as a mid-range PMB or a penetration grade, include them in the same enquiry so they can be quoted together.
  • Confirm timing early. Availability and shipment schedule for this range are confirmed for each enquiry, so raise your required delivery window at the start.

Where the 200/300 Range Is Typically Specified

The softest modified binders are generally associated with:

  • Specific surfacing or maintenance applications defined in national or project documents
  • Projects in very cold climates where the specifier has selected the softest range
  • Specialized works where the governing document names this range directly

These are general patterns. The pavement engineer and the governing document set the range and the full class for each project.

Compared with Unmodified and PG Binders

Binder Difference from the 200/300 range
PMB 120/200 Firmer PMB range; meets this one at 200 only
Bitumen 160/220 Soft unmodified grade whose window overlaps this one between 200 and 220. It contains no polymer and is specified on a different basis, so it isn't a substitute
Performance Grade bitumen A separate classification based on pavement temperature. There is no automatic PG equivalent for this range

Supplying the 200/300 Range for Turkey-Related Projects

Turkey Bitumen gives buyers with Turkey-related requirements an additional, documented source for this range. That includes contractors working on projects in Turkey, importers who currently buy from Turkish suppliers, and consultants preparing tenders.

If you already buy this binder, send us the designation and specification you buy against, together with your quantity and timing. We’ll quote on the same basis, so you can compare specification match, documentation, inspection, shipping terms and delivered cost.

Documentation and Inspection

  • Terms: FOB, CFR or CIF.
  • Inspection: SGS or Bureau Veritas inspection before shipment, on request, or an inspector you appoint.
  • Documents: TDS for the offered product, plus commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, COA and safety data sheet, depending on the shipment and destination.
  • Handling and packaging: follow the TDS for storage and heating. Packaging is agreed at quotation stage.

The Full PMB Range at a Glance

Each range has its own page, which focuses on what matters most when buying it. For an overview of how the PMB grade family is organized, see Tiger Bitumen’s guide.

Range What its page focuses on
PMB 10/40 The hardest range and how it differs from unmodified hard grades
PMB 25/55 Why overlapping ranges are not interchangeable
PMB 45/80 45/80 vs 40/100, moving from 50/70 or 60/70, and comparing offers
PMB 40/100 What a wide range means for consistency between deliveries
PMB 65/105 Cold-behaviour and ageing checks; storage stability
PMB 75/130 Softening point, elastic recovery conditions and inspection scope
PMB 90/150 Governing document, reheating and batch traceability
PMB 120/200 PMB vs cutbacks and emulsions; engineer approval
PMB 200/300 The softest range we quote and ordering a specialized range

Frequently Asked Questions

PMB 200/300 FAQs

What is PMB 200/300?

A polymer modified bitumen with a nominal penetration range of 200 to 300 (0.1 mm) at 25°C. It's the softest of the nine PMB ranges we quote.

Is 200/300 a complete EN 14023 designation?

No. It's only the penetration part. The complete designation also includes a softening-point requirement set by your specification, which is confirmed at quotation stage.

Do you quote PMB ranges softer than this?

No. If your documents name a softer binder as a PMB, send us the clause so we can check what's actually being specified.

Can Bitumen 160/220 be used instead?

Only if your specification allows it. Its window overlaps this one between 200 and 220, but it's unmodified and specified on a different basis.

Can I order this range together with other binders?

Yes. Include every binder your project needs in one enquiry, and we'll quote them together.

Is there a PG equivalent?

Not automatically. EN 14023 and PG are separate classification systems. If your project is specified in PG terms, we quote against the PG grade.

Can you supply this range for a project in Turkey?

Yes. We supply as an international source from Tiger Bitumen's export facilities in Karachi Free Zone and Ajman. Turkey Bitumen is not a Turkish manufacturer. Availability and schedule are confirmed for each enquiry.
