PMB 120/200 Polymer Modified Bitumen Specifications & Supply
A very soft modified binder, sourced as the right product type for your specification
PMB 120/200 is a polymer modified bitumen with a nominal penetration range of 120 to 200 (0.1 mm at 25°C). It is one of the two softest ranges in our polymer modified bitumen range. At this softness it’s worth confirming early that the product your project needs really is a PMB, and what your engineer will need to approve it.
TurkeyBitumen.com, operated by Tiger Bitumen and HY International Group, supplies this binder to contractors, asphalt producers and importers with Turkey-related requirements. It ships from Tiger Bitumen’s export facilities in Karachi Free Zone, Pakistan, and Ajman, UAE. Every quotation is prepared against the specification you send us.

Where PMB 120/200 Sits in the PMB Family
A penetration result between 120 and 200 means the standard needle sinks between 12.0 and 20.0 mm into the binder at 25°C. That makes this one of the softest PMB ranges, and its 80-unit window is one of the widest.
| Product type | What it is | Classified under |
| Ploymer modified bitumen (this range) | A hot-applied binder, modified with polymer, with no solvent or water added | EN 14023 or a project specification |
| Cutback bitumen | Bitumen thinned with a solvent so it can be applied at lower temperatures | Cutback specifications |
| Bitumen emulsions | Bitumen dispersed in water | Emulsion specifications (e.g. EN 13808) |
| Polymer-modified emulsions | Emulsions made with a modified binder | Emulsion specifications, not En 14023 |
| Bitumen 160/220 | Soft unmodified paving grade | Paving-grade specifications |
If your documents call for a PMB under EN 14023, a soft cutback, an emulsion or an unmodified grade won’t meet that requirement, and the reverse is also true. Check the product type and the standard named in the specification before you request prices. For a refresher on what makes a binder polymer modified, see Tiger Bitumen’s guide.
Properties to Confirm Before Ordering
| Property | Status for the 120/200 range | Commonly referenced test |
| Penetration at 25°C | Fixed; 120-200 (0.1 mm) | EN 1426 |
| Softening point (ring and ball) | Per the class in your specification | EN 1427 |
| Elastic recovery | Per your specification, if required | EN 13398 |
| Fraass breaking point | Per your specification, if required | EN 12593 |
| Storage stability | Per your specification, if required | EN 13399 |
| Resistance to hardening (ageing) | Per your specification, if required | EN 12607-1 |
The range name fixes only the penetration. Every other value depends on the complete designation and is stated in the TDS for the offered product and reported on the batch COA.
Material Submittal and Engineer Approval
On many road projects, the engineer or client must approve the binder before it can be delivered or used. With a specialized soft range, approval can take longer than procurement, so plan for it from the start:
- Find out what the submittal needs. This is commonly the TDS, a recent COA or test report, and sometimes a safety data sheet or other supporting documents.
- Raise it at enquiry stage. That way the documents supplied with our quotation match what your approval process asks for.
- Allow time. Approval can affect when you can confirm the order and the shipment schedule.
Tiger Bitumen’s PMB TDS and COA checklist is a useful reference when you prepare a submittal.
Where the 120/200 Range Is Typically Specified
Very soft modified binders are generally associated with:
- Surfacing and maintenance work where the governing document names a very soft PMB
- Projects in cold climates where the specifier has selected a very soft range
- Specific applications defined in national or project documents
These are general patterns. The pavement engineer and the governing document set the range and full class for each project.
Compared with Neighbouring and PG Binders
| Binder | Difference from the 120/200 range |
| PMB 90/150 | Firmer PMB range; overlaps between 120 and 150 |
| PMB 200/300 | Softest PMB range; meets this one only at 200 |
| Bitumen 100/120 | Unmodified, and firmer than this range |
| Performance Grade bitumen | Separate classification by pavement temperature; no automatic PG equivalent for this range |
Supplying the 120/200 Range for Turkey-Related Projects
Turkey Bitumen gives buyers with Turkey-related requirements an additional documented source for this range. That includes contractors on projects in Turkey, importers who currently buy from Turkish suppliers, and consultants preparing tenders.
If you already buy this binder, send us the designation and specification you buy against and the documents your approval process requires. We’ll quote on the same basis, so you can compare specification match, documentation, inspection, shipping terms and delivered cost. Availability, quantity and shipment schedule are confirmed for each enquiry.
Documentation and Inspection
- Terms: FOB, CFR or CIF.
- Inspection: SGS or Bureau Veritas inspection before shipment on request, or an inspector you appoint.
- Documents: TDS for the offered product, plus commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, COA and safety data sheet, depending on shipment and destination.
- Handling and packaging: follow the TDS for storage and heating. Packaging is agreed at quotation stage.

PMB 120/200 FAQs
It's a polymer modified bitumen with a nominal penetration range of 120 to 200 (0.1 mm) at 25°C, one of the two softest PMB ranges we quote.
No, it's only the penetration part. The complete designation also includes a softening-point requirement set by your specification, and it's confirmed at quotation stage.
No. Cutbacks contain solvent and emulsions contain water, and both are classified under different specifications. A PMB under EN 14023 is a hot-applied, polymer-modified binder.
They're a separate product, classified under emulsion specifications rather than EN 14023. If your specification names one, it isn't a request for this range.
That depends on your project. It's commonly the TDS and a COA or test report, sometimes with other supporting documents. Tell us at enquiry stage so the documents we supply match.
Not automatically. EN 14023 and PG are separate classification systems. If your project is specified in PG terms, we quote against the PG grade.
