PMB 90/150 Polymer Modified Bitumen Specifications & Supply
A soft modified binder, sourced against the document your project actually cites
PMB 90/150 is a polymer modified bitumen with a nominal penetration range of 90 to 150 (0.1 mm at 25°C). It sits toward the soft end of our polymer modified bitumen range. Soft ranges like this one are usually named in a specific project or national document, so that document should drive the purchase.
TurkeyBitumen.com, operated by Tiger Bitumen and HY International Group, supplies this binder to contractors, asphalt producers and importers with Turkey-related requirements. Supply comes from Tiger Bitumen’s export facilities in Karachi Free Zone, Pakistan, and Ajman, UAE. Every quotation is prepared against the specification you send us.

Where PMB 90/150 Sits in the PMB Family
A penetration result between 90 and 150 means the standard needle sinks between 9.0 and 15.0 mm into the binder at 25°C. That places this binder among the softer PMB ranges, below only 120/200 and 200/300.
It shares part of its window with four neighbours. Each of those is a separate class with its own requirements:
| Range | Shared penetration band |
| PMB 40/100 | 90-100 |
| PMB 65/105 | 90-105 |
| PMB 75/130 | 90-130 |
| PMB 120/200 | 120-150 |
Complete Designation and Softening Point
Under EN 14023, 90/150 is the penetration part of a designation. The complete designation adds a softening-point requirement, which the specifier selects from the classes the standard provides. The specification may also set requirements for elastic recovery, cold behaviour, storage stability and resistance to hardening.
The softening-point class for PMB 90/150 is set by your project specification, so we don’t publish a single figure for the range. The complete designation is confirmed at quotation stage, against your specification and the TDS supplied with our offer.
Confirm Which Document Governs
Before comparing offers for a soft range, be clear about exactly which document sets the requirement. A tender may cite:
- EN 14023, or a national adoption such as TS EN 14023, with a stated edition year
- A national annex or national requirements document
- A project technical specification that refers to the standard but sets its own classes
Editions and national documents can differ in detail. Two suppliers quoting “to EN 14023” may be working from different versions. Send us the exact reference your documents cite, and the relevant clause, so we quote on the same basis. Tiger Bitumen explains how EN 14023 designations are built if you need background.
Properties to Confirm Before Ordering
| Property | Status for the 90/150 range | Commonly referenced test |
| Penetration at 25°C | Fixed; 90-150 (0.1 mm) | EN 1426 |
| Softening point (ring and ball) | Per the class in your specification | EN 1427 |
| Elastic recovery | Per your specification, if required | EN 13398 |
| Fraass breaking point | Per your specification, if required | EN 12593 |
| Storage stability | Per your specification, if required | EN 13399 |
| Resistance to hardening (ageing) | Per your specification, if required | EN 12607-1 |
Only the penetration range is fixed by the name. Every other value depends on the complete designation and is shown in the TDS for the offered product and on the batch COA.
Receiving, Reheating and Site Handling
A soft modified binder still needs heating before it can be pumped, mixed or sprayed. For an internationally sourced binder, plan this before the shipment arrives:
- Reheating temperature. Keep within the limits in the TDS for the offered product. Excessive temperature can affect the polymer modification as well as the base binder.
- Time at temperature. Minimize how long the binder is held hot beyond what the TDS allows.
- Equipment. Confirm that your site heating and handling equipment suits the packaging agreed at quotation stage.
If you share your receiving arrangements with your enquiry, we can confirm what the TDS guidance means for your site.
Batch Traceability and Retained Samples
For a binder whose properties depend on the complete designation, you need to be able to link each delivery to its test results:
- Batch references. Check that the batch or lot reference on the COA matches the reference on the inspection report and the package marking.
- Retained samples. If your project needs them, agree at quotation stage who holds retained samples, how many, and for how long.
- Test reports. Confirm that the COA reports the properties your governing document lists, not penetration alone.
Tiger Bitumen’s articles on how PMB batches are tested and its PMB TDS and COA checklist cover the document checks in more detail.
Where the 90/150 Range Is Typically Specified
Modified binders in this soft range are generally associated with:
- Surfacing work where the governing document names a soft modified binder
- Projects in colder climates where the specifying authority has selected a soft range
- Specific applications defined in national or project documents
These are general patterns. The pavement engineer and the governing document set the range and full class for each project.
Compared with Unmodified and PG Binders
| Binder | Difference from the 90/150 range |
| PMB 120/200 | The next softer PMB range; overlaps between 120 and 150 |
| Bitumen 100/120 | Unmodified grade inside this window. No polymer and a different specification basis, so not a substitute |
| Bitumen 160/220 | Unmodified and softer than this range. A different product altogether |
| Performance Grade bitumen | Separate classification by pavement temperature. There is no automatic PG equivalent for this range |
Supplying the 90/150 Range for Turkey-Related Projects
Turkey Bitumen gives buyers with Turkey-related requirements an additional documented source for this range. That includes contractors on projects in Turkey, importers currently buying from Turkish suppliers, and consultants who need a second offer for a tender.
If you already buy this binder, send us the governing document reference, the designation you buy against and any traceability requirements. We’ll quote on the same basis, so you can compare specification match, documentation, inspection, shipping terms and delivered cost. Availability, quantity and shipment schedule are confirmed for each enquiry.

PMB 90/150 FAQs
A polymer modified bitumen with a nominal penetration range of 90 to 150 (0.1 mm) at 25°C, toward the soft end of the PMB family.
No. It's the penetration part only. The complete designation also includes a softening-point requirement set by your specification, which is confirmed at quotation stage.
Editions, national adoptions and project specifications can differ in detail. Quoting against the exact document your tender cites keeps offers comparable.
Follow the limits in the TDS for the offered product. Excessive temperature can affect the polymer modification.
If your project needs them, agree the arrangement at quotation stage, together with how batch references will link the COA, the inspection report and the package marking.
Not automatically. EN 14023 and PG are separate classification systems. If your project is specified in PG terms, we quote against the PG grade.
Yes, as an international source supplying from Tiger Bitumen's export facilities in Karachi Free Zone and Ajman. Turkey Bitumen is not a Turkish manufacturer. Availability and schedule are confirmed for each enquiry.
